Another Nigerian nominated for the 2017 Grammy Awards

Kah-Lo – daughter of Nigeria’s former Minister of Defence, Demola Seriki – has been nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award.

The musician, whose real name is Faridah Demola Seriki, received her first ever Grammy nomination for the vocals on ‘Rinse & Repeat’ by British DJ, Riton.

The track, released in March 2016 and produced by Riton, is nominated in the Best Dance Recording category along with ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ by The Chainsmokersfeaturing Daya, Bob Moses’ ‘Tearing Me Up’, Sofi Tukker’s ‘Drinkee’, and ‘Never Be Like You’ by Flume featuring Kai.

So far, the song has gathered just over six million views on YouTube as well as 2.9 million streams on Soundcloud.

Other than ‘Rise & Repeat’, Kah-Lo and DJ Riton have worked on another single titled ‘Betta Riddim’.

Kah-Lo is one of two Nigerian artistes nominated for a Grammy, with pop star, Wizkidalso getting his first ever nomination for featuring on Drake’s album, Views.

Drake’s 2016 album ‘Views’ is nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ along with Adele (’25’), Justin Bieber (‘Purpose’), Sturgill Simpson (‘A Sailor’s Guide To Earth’), and Beyonce(Lemonade).

The Grammys will hold at Staples Center, Los Angeles in February 2017.
