FG Releases Detained IPOB Members

There was jubilation in Onitsha, Anambra state on Thursday after the federal government, through the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, released all detained members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The previously detained members of the group were earlier arrested in February by various security agencies in Aba, Abia state, during a rally.

IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful confirmed that their members had been released via a statement issued to journalists in Onitsha, on Thursday.

He said all IPOB members worldwide under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, the Director of Radio Biafra were commending the Attorney-General of the Federation, and all those who had ”common sense” to understand that all those arrested in Aba must be released.

Mr. Powerful also described their release as a good omen for the birth of Biafra.
