Turns out, we don’t prefer to just lie back and think of England.
The UK’s favourite sex position is in fact *drum roll* is

 doggy style.
A survey of 1,000 people across the UK by Ann Summers found that one in four people prefer doggy style, while 23 per cent favour ‘women on top’.
Missionary position flopped languorously into third place with 21 per cent of the vote.
It’s not just the young’uns who prefer doggy style either – 30 per cent of 35 to 44-year-olds agreed doggy was best, although a quarter of 44 to 54-year-olds preferred women on top.

The top 10 places the UK likes to have sex

  • In the bedroom (88%)
  • In front of the TV (64%)
  • The shower (49%)
  • The bath (34%)
  • The kitchen (33%)
  • On the stairs (24%)
  • On the beach (22%)
  • On a night out (20%)
  • At a park (18%)
  • At work (13%)
But, most of all, we Brits like to mix it up in the bedroom – 66 per cent of those polled enjoy using at least two to three positions in one session.
And we like to keep it regular – over a third of participants said they have sex two to four times a week. Get us.

A spokesperson for Ann Summers said the survey shows we’re a kinkier nation than we realised (well, they would say that).
‘It’s fantastic to see that adults across the UK are becoming more adventurous and having fun with their sex lives,’ they said.
However, it seems the Fifty Shades effect hasn’t turned us all into S&M madams – only 5 per cent of the nation has got to grips with crops, whips, and paddles in the bedroom.
Still, by the sounds of it, it won’t take much to whip us into shape.
