Manchester City’s 3-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace, meant they drew level with Jose Mourinho’s men, putting pressure on them as they took on Stoke on Monday evening.
Terry’s header from Fabregas’ corner-kick settled their nerves early on, but they failed to make their superiority count, allowing the hosts back into the game.
Mark Hughes’ men also failed to capitalize on their ascendancy, until Fabregas’ crude finish settled the game as a contest
Chelsea welcome fourth-placed West Ham to Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
