GEJ Launches National School Agric Programme In Abuja.

The National Schools Agricultural Programme is intended to create an entrepreneurship culture among students.

President Goodluck Jonathan will today launch the National Schools Agricultural Programme (NSAP) in Abuja.
According to the Senior Special Assistant on Schools Agricultural Programme, Alhaja Baraka Sani, the NSAP programme, which started on the 4th of July 2014, will be officially kicked off today.
Sani made the revelation during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education Ibrahim Shekarau.
The Minister assured of the support of his Ministry, promising to ensure the its success in  Unity Schools across the country.
In a July interview,  Sani said NSAP was introduced to create an entrepreneurship culture among students and also serve as an avenue for skill acquisition.
“There are presently many challenges in the agricultural sector, however if young people are offered practical education in Agriculture and are engaged with innovation, the agricultural sector can attract youths, as we look forward to feeding our population of over 250 million by 2050”.
Phase 1 of the programme will start with the establishment of a Students Agricultural Club, comprising 120 members, in schools selected from 12 states.
