The End Of HIV? University Scientists Successfully Eliminate HIV Virus In Human Cells (DETAILS).

In 2012, an estimated 2.3 million individualsworldwide were newly infected with HIV, according tothe World Health Organization (WHO). Many have prayedto see the day a cure is found and those prayers may soon beanswered.
Researchers atTemple Universityin Philadelphia have found a way todestroy HIV and AIDsby operating on the DNA system.Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience, Dr. Kamel Khalili, talks with CBS about how they did it:
Basically converting infected cells to un-infected cells and that is very important because the current therapy can not eliminate the virus from cellswe have a cure for HIV elimination. We have a system to eliminate HIV from the cells in the laboratory.
According toCBS Local,its now just a matter of bringing the system of elimination discovery to life withclinical trialson animals and eventually humans.
According toDr.Khalili,there is not a specific period that the discovery will make its way toclinicaltrials, however many people are tuned in to see what will happen next and if the HIV and AIDs epidemic has finally come to an end.
