CHRISTMAS: TRAFFIC HITS LAGOS.

By Olufemi Ajasa

Severe traffic hits some roads situated along major markets in Lagos, today as last-minute shoppers, travelers, road hawkers all set out to for their different purposes bringing a halt and disarray in the affected areas.
IMG_2475  According to Mr. Ogbonaya Aguamba, a bus driver who was trapped in the traffic around Ikorodu to Mile 12 axis, the situation was said to have been worsened by the ongoing expansion of roads in the area, which affected traffic flow.
“I had to charge passengers twice the amount expected today after a colleague of mine told me he spent over 2 hours in traffic, driving from Ikorodu to Mile 12. Fortunately for me, the crowd is there and they are willing to pay because every one wants to go somewhere or the other to perfect their planning for the Christmas season” He stated
Meanwhile, some of the hawkers expressed that the traffic gave them the opportunity to showcase and sell their goods to shoppers.
A woman, who identified herself as Funke Odu, recounted that she regretted going out due to the stress she encountered.
